  • Breast Reduction (Reduction Mammaplasty)

Women with large, heavy breasts who are experiencing symptoms such as neck and back pain, can be helped by breast reduction surgery, known as reduction mammoplasty.

An change in the breast shape and nipple position can also be achieved through this surgery, addressing the aesthetic appearance of the breast.

This surgery has been shown to reliably improve symptoms and many women describe an enhancement of self confidence and appreciate the ability to re-engage with many physical activities which were previously more difficult.

Dr Chauhan performs breast reduction via a vertical scar or Wise pattern anchor shaped scar, with or without liposuction and accessory breast tissue removal.

  • Breast Lift (Mastopexy)

Mastopexy involves lifting the breast tissue and the position of the nipple without a significant reduction in volume. In fact, an increase in volume is often required, in the form of a breast implant or fat transfer.

Drooping of the breasts (ptosis) may occur following pregnancy and is commonly seen after significant weight loss.

If an increase in volume is desired, Dr Chauhan can perform mastopexy combined with breast augmentation, either in one surgery, or as two separately staged procedures.

  • Breast Enlargement (Augmentation Mammaplasty)

For some women, small breasts do not fit with their ideal, and they seek to have breast enlargement surgery, known as augmentation mammoplasty. This is achieved through the insertion of silicone breast implants.

Over-filling and unnatural augmentation is not recommended as the skin and soft tissues can be stretched beyond their capacity.

Most commonly, Dr Chauhan will use an incision in the inframammary crease. Fat transfer, alone or in combination can also be considered in certain cases.

  • Gynaecomastia (Male Breast)

Male breast tissue can occur for a variety of reasons, and is often consider normal around puberty. Should it persist or occur for another reason, then surgery to remove the breast tissue can be considered.

Dr Chauhan performs gynaecomastia removal through liposuction with or without direct glandular excision. In severe cases, skin excision may be necessary

  • Removal of Breast Implants

Breast implants can be removed if desired or if required for complications such as implant rupture, capsular contracture, and even sometimes tumours of the breast capsule.

When appropriate, new implants can be inserted, or sometimes the breast tissue is lifted or reduced instead.

  • Congenital Breast Conditions

Some breasts develop with features that cause aesthetic and or functional concern, and can be changed with surgery. This may use techniques of mastopexy, enlargement or a combination.

A personalised approach is needed as every patient will have different underlying patterns of development and unique goals of surgery.
